Insane Gas Prices

Here in Oregon, gas has been dropping pretty rapidly. What was once an all time high of around $4.46 (summer of '08), is now less than half that. Today I've seen as low as $2.05. That excites me. When gas was in the $4 range, I think the most we paid to fill up our Jeep was $76. Some of you may know that Safeway has gas. They also have this deal where for every $100 spent in the store, you get $0.10 taken off at the pump. This can add up too. But if not used by a specific date, you can lose it.

Two weeks ago, David's property held a resident party. Kind of a pre Thanksgiving dinner for all the residents. They decided to have the food catered from Safeway. (It's right next door to the property, so food would get there quick and stay warm.) They bought a lot! So much that each one of the employees got to take home an extra turkey (or 2) and some even got an extra ham. We also got to take home lots of leftover (untouched) mashed potatoes, corn, pumpkin and apple pie, drinks, and other stuff. It was crazy! I've still got half a turkey in my freezer. :) What's even better than all of this good free food, was that when it was bought -at Safeway- David was able to put it on his Safeway card. (It's like a rewards card) I think the total spent was around $900. You know what that means...

$900 spent = $0.90 taken off at the pump!

We asked if there was a limit to how many cars we could fill up, and the limit was 35 gallons. They didn't specify how many cars. :) Obviously with such a great discount, we wanted to make sure that both our cars were DRY! (one of our cars is a Jeep and our other car is a little old beat up Kia that holds only 8 gallons and usually costs around $18 to fill. but still. we wanted to use and abuse!) Today we did it. We took both cars that were totally on 'E' and filled up. I'm surprised both cars made it to the station, we were so low! :) Without the discount, the price today (at Safeway) would have been $2.15. What was it after the discount you ask??? Take a look...
-This is after both cars are filled-

Notice the -PRICE PER GALLON!!-

Wohoo!! We are happy campers!!! I don't ever remember paying that much just for the Jeep, let alone both cars. If only it could be like this EVERY time we filled up...

We've seen a similar drop. Gas here is a mere $2.21. Just in time for our road trip to Oregon! :)

I here you Care. When we arrived here in WI last week it was around 2.05/.10. Just last night on my way to pick up Jeb at the U... main street BP was at 1.95!!! First glance at a below 2 dollar price per gallon... can't wait for more gas price lows.
