For the last few weeks or so, we have been really good about saying a family prayer each night before Gabriel goes to bed. We gather together in his bedroom, kneel on the ground and continue to pray. He says it every time. Each night we ask him if he wants mommy or daddy to help, and each night he says, "I want say it". So he'll bury his head into the ground and start mumbling things we can't understand, but he's saying a prayer. It's so cute. Tonight as we sat down for dinner, he and David started to eat and I asked if we were going to say prayer. They both immediately put their forks down and Gabriel said "I want say it". David started to help and Gabriel looked right at him and said "no I want say it!". We smiled and said ok. As soon as arms were folded and eyes were closed, we heard this:
"Dear, Hemanly Fad-eh, we gwayful..."
It got David and I to giggle as we were listening because he had never said it without our help. Since we giggled, Gabriel to start giggling. We got through the prayer, ate our dinner and talked about how happy we are and that we are doing something right. :) They soak up so much at this age, it's so amazing! It's kept a smile on my face the whole rest of tonight.

that is adorable. What a sweet and smart little man you have. keep up the good work.
These moments are what life is all about. This one will stay with you forever. Just remember "this" at times when he is being your little stinker... then you'll remember what a sweet boy you really have. Love you Carrie, and I love these kinda stories. Thank you for sharing. :)
It is amazing what our little ones learn from us. As soon as we say it is prayer time. Samantha is all ready for the prayer. With Rubio and Isabel being much older, we have to remember to take turns saying the prayer. Or Isabel and Rubio are fighting to say the prayer. It is also a wonderful memory for your childern to look back and say we always prayed together as a family.
So sweet. I look forward to Leo mumbling something that is nearly as audible. I don't tend to write much, but do post pictures alot - keep up to date with the newest Tunes family at www.jennatunes.blogspot.com. I had some pictures of David, Sam and the kids back in an August post.
I already feel like we're not thousands of miles away from all of you!
Hi Carrie & David -- this is Jenna's mom!
I loved reading your post about the prayer --- if it doesn't make me sound too 'parenty', what you guys are doing is establishing a legacy for your children, without them realizing it! Keep up the good work.
I'll peek in from time to time ....
